The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is a UN agency that operates for the benefit of Palestinian refugees.
Having been founded in 1949, UNRWA is the only UN refugee agency dedicated to a specific area and refugee crisis.
The organization continues to operate in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, providing humanitarian aid and education for Palestinians.
However, UNRWA has also come under fire for a number of controversies, such as those who claim it creates dependency rather than resettling refugees and others who claim it promotes antisemitism and incitement against Israel in its educational programs.
The IDF found dozens of terrorists to be hiding in UNRWA schools and eliminated the facilities along with other Hamas terrorist infrastructures.
Knesset has advanced a bill to strip UNRWA of its immunities, labeling it a terrorist organization.
Over 100 victims of the October 7 Hamas attacks are suing UNRWA, alleging it laundered money for Hamas and supported its infrastructure and propaganda.
"The situation is extremely dire,” Norwegian Foreign Minister Barth Eide said. "The Palestinian Authority, with whom we work closely, are warning us that they might be collapsing this summer,
The report found that the network's members include some 100 people and NGOs, such as UN, UNRWA, Palestinian, and PLO officials, along with pro-Palestinian academics and activists.
One of the eliminated terrorists was confirmed to have taken part in Hamas's October 7 attacks, where over 1200 people were killed and another 250 kidnapped.
The terrorists eliminated had been planning an imminent attack on Israel, using the school as a civilian shield for their terrorist activities.
The problem in Gaza is that Hamas systematically uses hospitals and school, and there is a second systematic issue not to mention Hamas or monitor the presence of unaffiliated men in these places.
The IDF claimed that the school was being used as a base for Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad fighters, in particular terrorists that participated in the October 7 massacre.
Such an agency has no justification to be part of the UN system, nor to be supported by anyone, definitely not by the taxpayers of democracies.
