We've all heard about collagen, but peptides are also crucial for preventing the skin from fast aging.

Aging is known to be a natural and inevitable process. It occurs throughout our lives (from birth to death) in all our body organs and is also reflected in changes in the appearance of the skin and facial structure.

Many factors influence skin aging, including internal factors like genetics and external factors like sun exposure, smoking, and even gravity. These factors, over the years, lead to the destruction of collagen and the vital elastic fibers in the skin of the face and body.

Collagen constitutes about 80% of the proteins in our facial skin and is primarily responsible for the skin's youthful and refreshed appearance. The body produces collagen throughout life, but from around age 30, its natural production rate decreases, significantly affecting skin function and appearance. The skin becomes dull and tired-looking, its texture rough and uneven, and wrinkles and fine lines begin to form. Additionally, the skin becomes thinner and loses its firmness and elasticity.

Recently, leading international skincare brands have been incorporating a natural component called peptides into their anti-aging products. Peptides are the "building blocks" that make up protein. When amino acids link together, the short chains they form are called peptide amino. Longer chains of amino acids are called "proteins," which include collagen.

"Although the body can produce peptides on its own, its ability to do so diminishes over time, and the skin becomes duller with more fine lines. Peptides from maca root essentially mimic and replace the natural activity that the skin performed at a younger age, encouraging the production of proteins and collagen necessary to improve skin appearance and supporting the renewal of skin cells for a firmer and smoother look," says senior naturopath Limor Patai. She adds, "This is why peptides have recently become such a sought-after ingredient in the skincare world, especially in anti-aging products."

The new anti-aging series from WELEDA harnesses the power of nature and is based on key ingredients like maca root peptides and pomegranate seed oil, known for its ability to slow down the skin aging process. These products are designed to firm, repair, and renew the skin, helping to achieve a youthful and glowing appearance. The new series includes five new facial skincare products: serum, day cream, night cream, eye cream, and firming pomegranate oil.
